Halloween 2006

Mr. Incredible ponders taking over College Avenue

Is it love or just bad balance? You decide.

Na-Nuk, Princess Fairy of the Barren North

In our neck of the woods we celebrate two Halloween Nights. The first is the city-wide trick-or-treating, that occurred Sunday. We just pass out candy, lots of it, to kids from the neighborhood and kids not from the neighborhood. I ran out of candy one hour into the three hour event and started throwing the kid's stickers into the bowl out of desperation. Good stickers, mind you. The die cut foam kind in shapes of fish and dolphins.

A group of teenage girls approached the house and I felt the need to warn them that I had run out and will be dishing out stickers. And really, if you think stickers are an uncool treat, then maybe you are too old to be trick-or-treating anyway.

They all sort of muttered grunts of disapproval and then looked back at the kids heading over from the neighbors house and yelled, "Hey! She just has stickers. Don't bother!"

WhatEVER.

Last night was the invitation-only trick-or-treating in the four-block area of our neighborhood. It is a fun event for the local kids and it does help keep the group small and managed. But the full size candybars and giant Pixie Sticks are fun - as we later raid the kid's stuff anyway.

The kids had a blast and L was taken by the moon - probably the first time she has ever seen it in person. She kept saying, "Mama! Moooooon! Mama! Mooooon!" J just trudge along scooping candy up and keeping an eye on the prize.
