A friend sent this to me - this is what we are looking at for tonight and tomorrow. It seems that school is only canceled on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays...the days L goes. Coincidence?
I think not.
Currently, the storm that has been tracking into our region was originally forecasted out to be 5-9 inches total snowfall, with significant wind and gusts that could produce snowdrifts up to 3 feet.
The National Weather Service is now forecasting that our County is in line for some of the heaviest snowfall. Rusty Kapela from the National Weather Service stated that we may see thunder snow and strong wind gusts. Thunder Snow is a meteorological condition where blizzard-like conditions are present with minimal visibility, with thunder and lightening. If the thunder snow does present, it looks like we may get up to 20" of snow in parts of our county between 9pm and 8am.
With strong wind gusts we may see near blizzard or white out conditions in open, exposed areas. If the storm does come through as “thunder snow”, be aware that road conditions will be hazardous and travel times will be greatly increased as a result of the road conditions.
